Minnesota
Minnesota has been our home for nearly four decades---we move to Fergus Falls in late September 1969. For several years we were busy establishing a practice and raising our family; we took lots of photos, but pretty much limited to family and vacations. As our sons established their own homes Sheryl and I were more free to travel for short trips to the North Shore as well as other locations we wanted to see.

Obviously, living in Minnesota we have winter! In 2006 I was able to take a sled dog trip into the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. A canoe was not helpful in February; we had a great time with the dogs doing most of the work and the fishers in the party feeding us well with fresh lake trout.

Sheryl & I live on the Otter Tail River, about 7 miles from downtown Fergus Falls. We cross the river every day driving to and from work. The open water on a cold morning creates a beautiful winter scene.
The longer we live in Minnesota (nearly four decades) the more appreciative I become of the wide diversity of geology, topography, habitat and scenery in my home state.
By the late 1980s I was becoming more appreciative of prairies and after we moved to our new home in 1996 I began to expand a small remnant of native prairie and re-introduce native plants over about 2 acres.
I find the tall grasses, the short grasses, the flowers, the fall colors every bit as enriching as a maple forest---just on a smaller scale!
At iDocs Photo Tours we have a CD guide to the North Shore of Lake Superior---lots of opportunities for lake shore photos, fall colors, flowers and deep woods. At Shutterfly my Minnesota album has prairie, woods, Lake Superior, flowers and many barns and other buildings found in our state.
